Solan: Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar lifted the 17th Kirloskar Inter-School Business Quiz trophy while Vasant Valley School, New Delhi and The Lawrence School, Sanawar bagged the first and second runners-up positions respectively among the twelve teams that participated in the keenly contested business quiz organized by The Lawrence school, Sanawar.
Widely acclaimed as the pioneer of Business quiz competition at school level, The Lawrence School, Sanawar hosted the 17th Inter-school Kirloskar Business Quiz competition on Thursday, 12th September 2024. Sponsored by Geetanjali Kirloskar, the scion of the Kirloskar Group of Industries and an alumna of Sanawar; the business quiz aims at creating awareness among students about latest development in the corporate world and preparing business leaders of tomorrow.
Twelve reputed schools from across the country participated in the business quiz organized by the School’s Faculty of Commerce. The names of the participating schools are: Pinegrove, Subathu, Spring Dale, Amritsar, Vasant Valley, New Delhi, Learning Paths, Mohali, DAV, Lakkar Bazar-Shimla, Army Public School, Dagshai, Auckland House, Shimla, Durga Public School, Solan, Pinegrove, Dharampur, The Rajkumar College, Rajkot, Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, and the host – The Lawrence School, Sanawar.
Mr. Gautam Bose, a renowned quizmaster and the founder of Grey Cells was invited as the quiz master for the event who started with a brain-taxing preliminary screening test consisting of twenty questions. Based on the scores in the preliminary round, top six schools namely Pinegrove, Subathu, The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Army Public School, Dagshai, Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar, Learning Paths, Mohali, and Vasant Valley, New Delhi succeeded in making it to the final round of the quiz.
The final round of the quiz consisted of five mind-boggling and brain teasing rounds. In this keenly contested battle of nerves, finally the team from Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar lifted the winner’s trophy scoring 125. The host team and the defending champions of the trophy comprising Vedant Bhardwaj, Preet Gupta and Viraj Gupta managed a podium finish bagging third position with a score of 105 on the leaderboard.
Manmohan Sharma, IAS and currently the Deputy Commissioner, Solan graced the occasion as the chief guest and felicitated the winners as well as the participants of the quiz. In his address to the students he said, “In a high quality contest like this one, no team is a winner or a loser. In fact, everyone is a learner as we all have learnt so many new and interesting facts about the business world.” Welcoming the chief guest, Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon, congratulated the participants for showing keen interest in the competition. He bestowed a token of appreciation upon the chief guest and extended a vote of thanks.
