Solan: In a momentous occasion that signifies a giant leap towards creating awareness in community and empowerment of persons with disabilities affected by stroke, the National Level Program was organized by Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) AYJNISHD(D), Mumbai on “Stroke Awareness through Media: Shaping Perceptions, Overcoming Challenges, and Promoting Disability Advocacy” was conducted  at M.S. Panwar Institute of Communication & Management, Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

The National Program was inaugurated at a function and was graced by the esteemed presence of the Col (Dr) Dhani Ram Shandil, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Social Justice & Empowerment, Labour & Employment, Government of Himachal Pradesh and Dr Rajan Upppal, Chief Medical Officer- Regional Hospital, Solan, HP.

Speaking at the inaugural function of national program on ‘World Stroke Day’ at MSPICM,Solan,HP. Col (Dr) Dhani Ram Shandil, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Social Justice & Empowerment, Labour & Employment, Government of Himachal Pradesh said that this national program is yet another pioneering initiative under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. He stressed the need to be ‘FAST’ in terms of identification of Facial weakness, Aphasic features, Speech disorders, and Time in providing medical help for persons affected by stroke. The national program ended with a concluding session that had participatory quiz competition session and awarding of certificates to all the participants and winners. The concluding session was chaired by Prof. T. D. Verma.

The national program aimed at reinforcing the commitment of the Government of India to the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) caused by stroke and in creating awareness in the community. Dr Marhew Martin, Dr Sanjay Aggerwal, Dr B.S. Panwer, Shishir Kumar, Dr Asawari Shinde, Urmi Shah, Yashpal Kapoor. Dr GD Gulati, Prof. T.D Verma. are resource person of the program.
