Warsaw: Germany is one of the world’s top countries inwell-being ranking of its population. Among 143 countries, Germany currently ranks twelfth, according to a study conducted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG). “Germany is above the EU average in all areas,” said Matthias Tauber, head of BCG Germany.
The Consulting Group examined how states performed in the economic, investment and sustainability dimensions. With 40 indicators, they examined areas such as employment and income, health, education and infrastructure or the environment and gender equality. Germany achieved high scores in almost all cases and, with a total score of 81.5 points, came very close to the maximum score of 100.
Norway is at the top of the ranking with 87.7 points, followed by Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden. The Scandinavian countries shone with equal rights and good education. Germany achieved particularly high values in economic stability, health and equality. The Boston Consulting Group praised the good development of income and employment in Germany. While economic power has risen in recent years, unemployment has fallen to close to full employment. In terms of income, however, countries such as Switzerland and the USA performed better. In the environmental category, Germany caught up strongly.
The development in Germany was negative in terms of infrastructure, such as roads, railways and broadband expansion. In terms of education, Germany lost two places. The poor development in the education sector is reflected in the shortage of skilled workers.
