JFA expresses shock over the demise of Anil Barua

Guwahati: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses shock over the demise of veteran Assamese journalist Anil Barua, who breathed his last at around 6:50 pm on 28 November 2023 at a city hospital. The former editor of Dainik Asom was suffering from heart ailments for some time.  Barua (84) left behind his wife, three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers. Adored with love and respect from all sections in the society, Barua received a number of awards including the Assam government’s Republic Day Journalism Award 2022.

“With the passing away of Anil Barua, Assam has lost a brave editor-journalist, who remained active on various media platforms just two days before his sudden demise. A nationalist media personality by
his identity, Barua always stood for the professional integrity, social commitment and unparallel patriotism,” said JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria, adding that the State media
fraternity and the society as a whole will now deprive of his timely directions during the period of distress in future.
