Solan: In an electrifying final match that had fans at the edge of their seats, The Lawrence School, Sanawar, emerged victorious against Pinegrove School, Dharampur, with a thrilling 1-0 win during extra time. Vasuman Chauhan, the star of Sanawar, was declared the “Player of the Match” for his game-changing goal that pierced through Pinegrove’s solid defense. The final showdown took place under the floodlights at the picturesque Barne-field, perched atop the beautiful Sanawar hill.

The Bhupinder Singh Memorial Soccer Tournament, an annual sporting extravaganza, honors the legendary Deputy Headmaster, Bhupinder Singh, who served Sanawar with unwavering dedication for over four decades. This tournament boasts a rich history of nurturing soccer talent from across India, and this year’s edition continued the tradition.

In a nail-biting contest, Sanawar and Pinegrove displayed exceptional sportsmanship and talent. The crowd was treated to a remarkable display of skill, determination, and teamwork as both teams battled fiercely for the coveted championship. The tension in the air was palpable as the match remained deadlocked in regular time, with neither side yielding an inch. As the clock ticked away, the players gave their all on the field, showcasing unmatched dedication and spirit.

Ultimately, it was Sanawar’s unyielding commitment to the sport that secured their victory in extra time, leaving an indelible mark on the tournament. This win reflects their dedication and prowess in soccer, solidifying their status as champions.

The tournament’s chief guest for the concluding ceremony was Dr. Abhishek Jain, I.A.S., Home Secretary, and Secretary to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. In his address to the gathering, he emphasized the importance of sports, stating that they teach valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience. Himmat Singh Dhillon, the Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participating teams, the heads of participating schools, the referees, officials, and the school’s sports department for brilliantly organizing the event and making it a resounding success, despite weather challenges.
