Solan: The district continues to grapple with the relentless onslaught of landslides following heavy rainfall. Numerous roads have been severely damaged, with some completely destroyed, hindering the mobility of residents and causing significant hardships.

In the most recent incident, the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway-05 has been fully closed following a massive landslide near Chakki Mor on Tuesday night. The heavy landslide resulted in debris blocking the road completely. As a result, traffic movement has been redirected through Kasauli, causing significant congestion on both sides of the highway. The situation is so severe that even apple trucks are stranded in the jam. Unfortunately, even ambulances have been unable to pass through the affected area. Authorities are working diligently to clear the debris and reopen the highway for safe travel.

Thankfully, no vehicles came under the debris. However, cracks remain on the road, posing a continued risk of landslides. Consequently, the district police has issued advisories and recommendations for people to take an alternative route. The road clearance efforts are underway with utmost urgency.

Residents and travelers are advised to remain vigilant about the ongoing risk of landslides in this area. Just recently, on July 13, the road had to be closed as a precautionary measure due to substantial debris obstructing the passage. Prompt efforts were made to clear the debris, ensuring a swift reopening of the road.

Due to the current situation, DSP Parwanoo Pranav Chauhan has issued an advisory urging people to consider an alternative route from Parwanoo to Dharampur. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) team, along with local police, is actively engaged in efforts to clear and open the highway. Authorities anticipate that the restoration of the National Highway will be completed shortly.
