Summer theatre camp, first of its kind at Haflong, concludes 

Guwahati: A week long summer theatre camp, organized by KimDaula Media in association with Jirsong Theatre (JT) for the first time in Dima Hasao district in central Assam, concluded successfully at Haflong with the presentation of three short plays in Hindi and Dimasa languages by local artistes.

Presented by Swapna Daulagupu on behalf of KimDaula Media and supported by the Dima Hasao autonomous council, the camp (3 to 9 July 2023) was held at Don Bosco higher secondary school. Coordinated by Kulendra Daulagupu, an FTII, Pune alumnus and mentored by Robijita Gogoi, a National School of Drama, New Delhi alumnus was open to all age groups.

Nationally acclaimed theatre director Ms Gogoi, who leads Guwahati-based JT imparted practical and realistic acting skills to the aspiring and budding local talents. She was assisted by another NSD alumnus Raju Roy along with JT alumni Kalpajit Saikia and Karishma Baro. Altogether 37 students in senior & junior categories participated in the camp.

“Both theory and practical lessons on body language & voices, storytelling, action & reaction, music & sense of rhythm, facing audience & technicality, face painting, theatre games, improvisation and also production process were imparted in the camp,” said Ms Gogoi, who personally took care of all affairs in the camp.

DHAC executive member Biswajit Daulagupu graced the valedictory function held at Haflong cultural institute hall to present the certificates among participants. Short plays namely ‘Prakriti Ki Raksha’, ‘Makhao – The Thief’ and ‘Parinaam – The Consequence’ were also staged which were appreciated by parents, guardians and well-wishers of the participants.
